This week, Facebook released an announcement informing advertisers of their upcoming “Clear History” tool that will allow users to disconnect their off-Facebook activity from their profile. This new tool is essentially an attempt to provide users with more transparency and knowledge of how their data is being utilized. Though this new feature will not affect any measurement or analytics tools, it will highly impact ad targeting. The Facebook Pixel will become irrelevant in terms of creating Custom Audiences to retarget users who visit websites and apps.

Like many other Social Media Advertisers, our team is preparing new strategies to adapt to this change that is expected to begin rolling out in June – but not without highlighting some highly entertaining tweets directed at co-founder, Mark Zuckerberg, first. We’ve composed a list of this week’s funniest tweets regarding the new “Clear History” tool:

When advertisers start asking Zuckerberg questions…

He can avoid us on social media, but still gotta have that backup…

Mr. Zuckerberg, please don’t do this to us…

But he still cares!

And none of us want to be in his position at the moment…

We joke, but despite not being thrilled about this new update, our Social Media Department is confident that we’ll be able to adapt to these changes through re-designing our ad targeting strategies and ideating future audiences based on information aside from the Facebook Pixel that will “technically” be no more.
